Earlier this morning, Mayor Witko spoke at the Morton Grove & Niles Chambers of Commerce Legislative Breakfast with her fellow elected officials. Mayor Witko presented the Village’s accomplishments over the past year such as the Dempster Street Corridor Plan, Affordable Housing Initiatives for Seniors, and bringing Andy’s Frozen Custard to the Village along with upcoming initiatives with the replacement of the Police Department / Village Hall, continued investment in infrastructure, and continued addressing of public safety concerns.

- Swore in Firefighter Sean Eder
- Proclamation for Fire Prevention Week, which will be October 4th through October 10th this year and encouraged awareness about charging electronic devices safely
- Approved regulations related to tobacco stores, THC, and Kratom to align with State regulations that take effect November 12, 2026
- Approved the purchase of a new 2026 Caterpillar Backhoe Loader for $166,769
The Illinois Department of Transportation has begun removing the asphalt surface on Waukegan Road between Henley Street in Glenview and Emerson Street in Morton Grove. This work will require intermittent daytime lane closures while this work is in progress and is expected to last through next week.
Access to side streets and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.
The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
The Illinois Department of Transportation and their contractor are responsible for all aspects of this improvement. You may contact the Village of Morton Grove Department of Public Works at 847-470-5235 for any questions about the work proposed in the Village of Morton Grove.
